Ekaterina Tur, a psychosomatologist, told how hugs affect a person's life.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Wednesday, January 21, she noted that hugs are not just a manifestation of emotions, but a complex cascade of biochemical and neurophysiological reactions in the body. According to the expert, at this moment the brain's response to stress changes and the mechanisms of positive inhibition of the system responsible for stress reactions are triggered.

The expert explained that during hugs, cortisol production decreases, and brain activity shifts to areas associated with decision-making and positive emotions, making a person feel more calm and inner balance. She also added that the habit of hugging, for example, before leaving for work, helps the body to react differently to stress, makes it easier to experience a busy day and saves more energy in the evening.

The day before, psychotherapist Irina Krashkina told Izvestia about the benefits of hugs for mental health. In particular, hugging activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is associated with recovery and a sense of peace.

Last December, neurologist Ekaterina Demyanovskaya said that at the moment of hugging, oxytocin is produced, which reduces anxiety and creates a sense of security. The level of this hormone increases in both hugging participants — the social bond is strengthened, RT reports.

Tur previously noted that pleasant touches weaken the release of cortisol, especially in women. She added that warm body contact reduces the reactivity of blood pressure in difficult situations and activates the mechanism of emotion regulation, notes 360.ru .

Social psychologist Alexey Roshchin, in an interview with NSN, stated that through tactile contact, people realize that other people around them exist and really relate to them. In his opinion, "you need to hug at least three times a day, but, of course, the more, the better."

Prior to this, clinical psychologist Vladimir Krupin said that huggers sleep better. In addition, they have a growing sense of security, because any fear is primarily associated with the fear of loneliness, the website writes. kp.ru .
