The expert pointed out the importance of modernizing primary health care

Modernization of primary health care is of fundamental importance for the sustainability of the entire medical care system. It is the primary link (polyclinics, medical and obstetric centers, outpatient clinics) that is the first point of contact between a person and the healthcare system. This opinion was expressed in an interview with Izvestia by Kirill Masliev, Candidate of Medical Sciences, member of the State Council Commission "Long and Active Life", Head of the Department of Preventive Medicine at RUDN University.

"The timely start of treatment and the development of preventive medicine directly depend on the availability and quality of primary care: early diagnosis of diseases, prevention of complications. For residents of the regions and especially rural areas, this is not only a matter of comfort, but also basic medical safety," the expert said.

He recalled that for a long time it was believed that it was necessary to go to Moscow and other major cities for high-quality medical care. And for residents of the regions, this meant additional financial costs, and in some cases, lost time, which was crucial for treatment.

"The consistent modernization of primary care is aimed at breaking this logic and making modern medical care available at the place of residence," the source explained to Izvestia.

Masliev is convinced that an integrated approach is needed for the further development of primary care in Russia. It is important not only to build and repair buildings, but also to introduce modern standards for the organization of patient admission, digital solutions and telemedicine, update the fleet and take care of personnel, he lists.
