Refugees from Seversk told Izvestia about the atrocities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Ukrainian militants not only attacked residential buildings and destroyed solar panels that were installed to generate electricity, but also shot the population en masse.

Alexander, a resident of Seversk, stayed in the city because his son was buried there. Ukrainian Armed Forces gunmen shot dead a man and three of his friends.

"[She did it] 10th Mountain Assault Brigade, Edelweiss. Then I came on December 1st, well, I think I'll go get my son. He came as he was killed. Four people are lying dead in the room. My son was still showing signs of life. They buried him already on the 15th. There were such [active] arrivals. <… > They came and shot each of them in the back. Four people were in the store, dead people were lying <... > And one guy was still thinking about something and said to me: "Uncle Sasha, go away, get out of here, run away." I'm talking about when it happened. He says, "15 minutes ago." <... > If I had come half an hour ago, 20 minutes ago, and they would have put me there," a resident told Izvestia correspondent Egor Kildibekov.

He added that due to the frequent shelling by the militants, it was possible to bury his son only on December 15. According to the man, the Ukrainian Armed Forces killed civilians for no reason. One of the residents of Seversk was shot in the back when he tried to make a call through the Starlink system in the basement of one of the houses.

"The young woman is still here, she was in the basement with her husband. They came and killed him in front of her. For what? For being a man," Alexander added.

After Russian soldiers liberated Seversk and drove the enemy out of the city, Ukrainian militants began attacking civilian homes with drones.

"The city is in the most deplorable state right now. There was nothing left alive. The houses are broken up, and the high-rise buildings even more so. My house is dead too," he said.

Another resident of Seversk added that her brother was among those shot in that store. The rest of the family also died near the city, the woman was the only survivor.

"My dad was in Yampol. I'm so hopeful that at least someone is still alive. But he was killed. My husband was killed, my older brother was killed in Seversk, and my younger brother was shot," said a resident of the city.

The woman added that the Ukrainian militants were extremely cruel to the civilian population. According to her, the militants regularly attacked basements where people were hiding using drones.

"They are very angry and cruel. Everyone was sniffing around why we weren't leaving. They called me names. We're putting out the fire, they see it and they're bombing us, bombing us. The "carrots" were thrown off several times. It was very scary," she added.

At the same time, during the evacuation, Russian servicemen asked about her well-being and helped her with everything necessary.

"The guys stopped several times, asked how I was feeling, and I cried and said, "Let's get out of here faster, the main thing is to get out." It was very scary after what these militants were doing," the resident recalls.

In the footage from Seversk, you can see destroyed houses and destroyed solar panels, with which residents extracted the electricity they needed to survive.

Hero of Russia, commander of the assault company Naran Ochir-Goryaev said on December 19 that the Ukrainian Armed Forces shot civilians who did not want to evacuate Seversk. He clarified that the most difficult thing was to reach Seversk unnoticed, since there were no natural shelters on the ground, so it was decided to move in small groups unnoticed.

At the end of November last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin reported that the Russian army had surrounded Seversk from three sides. Shortly after that, on December 11, the President received a detailed report on the liberation of Seversk by the Russian army. The head of state also noted that Seversk is a significant Russian city for the Russian Federation. He stressed that the Russian Army liberated the city in a very difficult situation, overcoming the enemy's layered defenses.
