The average cost of a new passenger car in Russia during 2026 may increase by about 10% and reach 3.85 million rubles. This was stated by the head of the association "Russian Automobile Dealers" (ROAD) Alexey Podshchekoldin, reports TASS on January 21.

According to Podshchekoldin, in the second half of 2025, discounts on new cars began to decrease, and the trend will continue this year, which will affect the average price. Last year, according to the association, the average price of a new car in 2025 in Russia was 3.54 million rubles.

However, as the head of the ROAD noted, an increase in the average price of a new car by more than 10% over the course of the year is unlikely. He believes that if economic conditions change, including a reduction in the key rate, the average price will increase by only 3-4%.

According to the association's forecast, sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in Russia in 2026 will remain at the level of 2025 and will amount to about 1.4 million units. For the used car segment, ROAD also expects sales to remain at last year's level (about 7 million units).

On January 16, the analytical agency Autostat reported that from January 1 to January 15, 2026, 30 car brands immediately changed prices for their new cars. One or more models rose in price for 28 of them, and two more had multidirectional price changes.

On January 14, car dealers warned that in the first quarter of 2026, new passenger cars in Russia will continue to rise in price, adding an average of 5-10%. According to their estimates, prices for new passenger cars in the Russian Federation have increased by an average of 1.5–3% since January 2026.
