The US Treasury Secretary called Europe a regulatory swamp
Artificial standards, excessive rules and bureaucracy have turned Europe into a "regulatory swamp" with stunted economic growth. This was announced on January 21 by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant.
"Let's be clear: Europe is a regulatory swamp built on bureaucracy and a bunch of rules that limit economic activity and economic growth," the American minister said on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
He stressed that European states should eliminate trade barriers within Europe itself, as well as barriers to foreign trade.
"Because these artificial standards <...> have become a serious problem all over the world," explained Bessent.
In December, British political analyst and political risk consultant Adriel Casonta, in a conversation with Izvestia, noted that the Russian Federation is a very important player on the world stage. Against this background, the countries of the European Union (EU), which continue to act against their national interests and impose new anti-Russian sanctions, are self-harming themselves. These restrictive measures have a "boomerang effect" on the economy of the association.
