South Korean authorities conducted searches of suspects in the drone case in the DPRK
In South Korea, a joint investigation team of police and military conducted searches in the homes and offices of three suspects accused of launching drones in the DPRK. This was reported on January 21 by the Yonhap news agency, citing the police.
"From 8:00 a.m. (2:00 a.m. Moscow time), the joint group began issuing search and seizure warrants against three civilians suspected of violating the Aviation Safety Act," the police said.
The agency also reports that last Friday, investigators questioned one of the suspects in connection with the alleged drone shipments. The identities of the other defendants have not yet been disclosed.
Earlier, on November 10, 2025, it was reported that former South Korean President Yun Seok-yeol and several high-ranking former officials, including the former Minister of Defense and the head of counterintelligence, were accused of trying to provoke a military conflict with the DPRK. According to the investigation, in October 2024, South Korean drones crossed the border of the DPRK, one of them crashed, resulting in the disclosure of confidential military information. These actions were allegedly intended to create a pretext for the imposition of martial law in South Korea.
