Sappers of the Center group of forces told about the clearing of the territory from the mines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Sappers of the engineering company of the 506th regiment of the 27th Division of the Center group of forces on January 21, on the eve of the professional holiday of military engineers, shared details of the work on mine clearance of the territory from ammunition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Red Army area in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

It is specified that engineering reconnaissance takes place not only with the help of metal detectors, but also unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which allows you to work most precisely among fragments and construction debris.

"Engineering reconnaissance is taking place using UAVs, my unit is actively using UAVs such as Mavik. We fly, we study, we search, we find. After that, a group of additional reconnaissance is sent, which visually finds and destroys unexploded shells or some other explosive objects with the help of metal detectors and probes," Senior Lieutenant Egor Sitnik, commander of the engineering and sapper company of the 506th regiment, told Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Astrakhan.

The difficulty of the work of the sappers of the 506th regiment lies in the fact that American mines and other explosive ammunition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are often well hidden.

Sappers of the engineering company have a wide range of tasks, ranging from setting groups of mines and minefields and ending with the guidance of crossings on water barriers. However, according to sapper Sergey Morozov, the main occupation is considered to be the clearance of roads for infantry and equipment.

As noted by the driver of one of their sapper groups, Junior Sergeant Alexander Masitsky, the Ukrainian military often additionally "plant" new mines and explosive devices.

In difficult areas, soldiers cannot use mine detectors.

On January 19, the Ministry of Defense reported that the BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) of the Southern Group of Forces destroyed a cluster of personnel and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Konstantinovsky direction in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). As a result of the Grad MLRS strike, three vehicles and a field ammunition depot were destroyed. Enemy losses are estimated at up to 20 people killed and wounded.
