Former French national football team midfielder Lucien Muller has died at the age of 91. This was announced on January 20 by the Eurosport TV channel.

Muller began his career at the football club (FC) Strasbourg, then played for FC Stade de Reims, winning the French championship twice, after which he moved to Spain, where he played for FC Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

"Thanks to his humanity and talent, he embodied the values dear to our club," Jean—Pierre Caillaux, president of FC Stade de Reims, said.

After becoming a coach, he led several Spanish clubs, including FC Barcelona in the 1978-79 season, and later FC Monaco, with whom he won the French Cup in 1985. He played 16 matches for the French national team, participated in Euro 1960 (semi-finalist) and the 1966 World Cup.
