The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has filed a lawsuit to seize the assets of former State Duma deputy Anatoly Voronovsky, current member of Parliament Andrei Doroshenko, parliamentarian of the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Karpenko and other defendants in the case. This was announced on January 20 by a source of Izvestia.

It is noted that 30 people are involved in the case. The claim was accepted for production on the same day by the Central District Court of Sochi.

The claim is related to a corruption scheme in the road sector of the Krasnodar Territory. Voronovsky, who at various times held the posts of head of the Ministry of Transport and Road Management of the region, and then vice-governor and deputy of the State Duma, abused his powers — since 2016, he ensured the distribution of government orders for the construction and repair of highways among a limited number of companies, bypassing competitive procedures.

Doroshenko and Karpenko were involved in the implementation of the scheme, which dealt with the distribution of work between contractors and determined the amount of remuneration for Voronovsky.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the seizure of real estate and shares in companies related to road construction is required.

On November 11 last year, State Duma deputies unanimously supported the arguments of Prosecutor General Alexander Gutan, agreeing to the lifting of immunity and the initiation of proceedings against Voronovsky.

Prior to that, the State Duma commission recommended approving the deprivation of Voronovsky's parliamentary immunity and opening a criminal case against him. Voronovsky said on the same day that he was in Moscow, was not trying to hide, and was ready to answer all questions from the investigation. He added that the law enforcement agencies had not made any official claims against him and he did not know what they were accusing him of.
