In Kiev, more than a million residents were left without electricity.
More than one million residents of Kiev remain without electricity. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on January 20.
"In Kiev alone, as of the evening, more than a million consumers are without electricity. A significant number of houses without heat — more than 4 thousand apartment buildings," the president said in an address published on his Telegram channel.
He added that he was waiting for proposals from officials to restructure work aimed at supporting the population and businesses.
Earlier, on January 18, it was reported that electricity in Ukraine can be turned off for more than 16 hours a day. Emergency shutdowns are in effect in Kiev — about 3 hours with light and 10 without it. According to power engineers, after severe frosts, energy consumption should decrease.
