Moscow rescuers have increased patrols of rivers and reservoirs
Rescuers in Moscow have switched to an enhanced patrol mode of rivers and reservoirs to prevent accidents on the ice. This was announced on Tuesday, January 20, by the Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping, Peter Biryukov.
According to him, experts are constantly monitoring the situation, taking into account the formation of the ice cover and urge citizens not to go out on the ice and closely monitor children and pets.
He specified that the thickness of ice in the reservoirs of the capital ranges from 16 to 25 cm, on the Moskva River - from 4 to 14 cm, on the Khimki reservoir — up to 18 cm, and in the TINAO — about 20 cm. Special attention is paid to places of unauthorized access to the ice, swimming and fishing. More than 25 hovercraft equipped with rescue equipment are involved in the patrol, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
Biryukov added that rescuers are also carrying out preventive work on the shores, and safety on the water in Moscow is provided by more than 500 specialists working at 25 search and rescue and one fire rescue station.
