On January 20, the Moscow military garrison court sentenced Sergei Mileyko, ex-deputy director of the Russian Guard, to seven years in a penal colony for fraud on an especially large scale related to government contracts for the needs of the department.

"To find Sergei Mileyko guilty and impose a sentence of seven years in a penal colony and a fine of 880,000 rubles," TASS quoted the judge as saying. Mileyko was also stripped of the rank of lieutenant General in the reserve.

He was released in the courtroom after serving his sentence. The court also sentenced Igor Shalnov, the former head of Spetsshveysnab LLC, who participated in the fraudulent scheme with Mileyko, to 6.5 years in a general regime penal colony and a fine of 500 thousand rubles.
