A resident of the Lipetsk region is awaiting trial for the deaths of two people in an overtaking accident

In the Lipetsk region, the investigation of the criminal case of an accident in the Gryazinsky district, which resulted in the death of two men, has been completed. This is reported by the Regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The accident occurred on October 4, 2025 on the highway R-119 Orel – Tambov. According to police, the 43-year-old driver of a Nissan Almera car drove into oncoming traffic while overtaking, where a Shacman truck was turning at the intersection at that moment. Trying to avoid a collision, the driver of the car lost control, the car flew off the road into a ditch and overturned.

As a result of the accident, the 45-year-old passenger of the car died on the spot, the 48—year-old passenger died a few days later in the hospital. According to GOROD48, three passengers were admitted to the hospital at that time, and the driver received medical assistance on the spot.

The investigation of the criminal case under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of two people and causing serious harm to human health" has been completed. The case materials have been submitted to the court for consideration.

According to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the maximum sanction of this article provides for up to seven years in prison, the minimum — up to five years of forced labor.

Earlier in January, it was reported that the investigation of a criminal case against a motorist from the city of Severomorsk, who got behind the wheel under the influence of drugs and caused a fatal accident, had been completed. Driving a Lexus RX350, she seriously exceeded the speed limit and crashed into a Renault Duster. The driver of the crossover died on the spot.
