On January 20, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during the final press conference on the results of diplomatic activity in 2025, joked about former US President Joe Biden's use of a fountain pen to sign documents during his presidency.

The minister cited the example of Biden's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2021, during which Biden spoke "without any notes."

"The very case when Joe Biden spoke without a piece of paper, without a teleprompter, without a fountain pen, which signs everything itself," Lavrov said.
