In the Kuninsky district of the Pskov region, the ban on access to the ice cover of reservoirs was lifted. The corresponding order was signed on January 19 by the head of the district Oleg Lebedev, as he announced in his Telegram channel.

Ice with a thickness of 10 cm or more is considered safe for human habitation. The actual thickness of the coating is now greater, but in many reservoirs the ice is not monolithic, but layered, with water between the layers. The reason for this was the temperature fluctuations and snowfall.

Fragile ice is also formed in the mouths of rivers and tributaries, the Pskov News feed writes. The strength is also weakened in places with fast currents, gushing springs, runoff waters, in places where reeds and other aquatic vegetation grow, as well as near trees.

In this regard, those wishing to go out on the ice are asked to be extremely careful and not let children go to the reservoirs alone. Also, fans of fishing, skating or skiing are asked not to park cars within the water protection zone and take care of themselves and their loved ones.

Since last Friday, January 16, they have been allowed to go out on the ice of reservoirs in the Pskov district again. The relevant decision was made by the municipal emergency commission based on the results of hydrological research. They showed that the thickness of the ice exceeds 17 cm, and the low air temperatures have become stable.
