Lavrov pointed to the extreme decline in relations between Russia and Italy
Relations between Russia and Italy are at their lowest point. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference on January 20 following the results of Russian diplomacy in 2025.
"As for relations with Italy and the fact that they are at their lowest point, I confirm my words," Lavrov said.
He noted that Italy is one of the few countries that "shun" Russian art. At the same time, Lavrov noted that Italians used to be uncharacteristic of fighting art.
"I did not expect this to happen," the minister said, "to expect a ban on [Russian] art and culture from Italy."
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on December 12 last year that Russian-Italian relations were in the most difficult state since the end of World War II. At the same time, Zakharova recalled that the history of Russian-Italian cooperation included a long and productive period of cooperation, which lasted about 80 years.
