China has outplayed the West in trade, economy, and investment by its own rules. The corresponding statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference on January 20 following the results of Russian diplomacy in 2025.

"The West, led by the United States, has laid the foundation for a model of globalization that has been promoted everywhere until recently. And based on these rules, China has outplayed its Western competitors in trade, economy, investments, and infrastructure projects," Lavrov said.

According to him, China's high economic and financial performance "speaks for itself." He also stressed that the West is trying to slow down China's growth through tariffs and sanctions. At the same time, the activities of international organizations responsible for trade operations have long been disrupted.

"All these rules, on which the world order that suits the West should be based, have been crossed out. There is a game of "whoever is stronger is right," the minister said.

Lavrov said on January 14 that the actions of the United States lead to the collapse of the model of globalization promoted by them. The Minister noted that instead of globalization, there is now a fragmentation of the global economy.
