The honeymoon is increasingly becoming not just a journey for newlyweds, but a personal ritual in which privacy, comfort and unique experiences are important. Irina Manuilskaya, director of the sales office of the travel company Sodis, told Izvestia on January 23 about which destinations are popular.

"The Maldives remains the leader, thanks to direct flights and the format of accommodation in individual villas. Almost every room here is an independent space without neighbors, often with its own pool or access to the ocean. Newlyweds appreciate a high level of service, spa programs for two, romantic dinners on the beach and ready-made packages of wedding ceremonies that can be held both for two people and with guests," the expert explained.

Cyprus, according to her, remains a sought-after destination due to the opportunity to hold both symbolic and official wedding ceremonies — the procedure for marriage registration for foreigners here is relatively simple. Additional factors of attractiveness are the Mediterranean landscapes, historical temples and mild climate: the average annual temperature is about +20 degrees and more than 300 sunny days a year allow you to plan outdoor celebrations at almost any time.

Italy is consistently among the most popular destinations for wedding trips due to the architecture and atmosphere of ancient cities. Couples choose ceremonies in Venetian palazzi, villas and historic mansions, where the space itself becomes part of the celebration. Trips are usually planned in advance, taking into account visa deadlines, as Italy is still perceived as one of the most aesthetic locations for romantic events.

Manuilskaya noted that Bali is appreciated for its variety of natural and architectural locations, from beaches and rice terraces to luxury villas and ancient temples. Ceremonies at waterfalls in the jungle remain one of the most sought-after and impressive formats. Scotland attracts newlyweds with castles, hills and national traditions. The expert gave an example of one of the memorable ceremonies, where an owl brought wedding rings along the central aisle of the temple to the newlyweds, holding them on a pillow in its paws, which emphasized the growing interest in individual scenarios and unusual rituals.

"Japan is chosen for its unique culture and temple ceremonies. Photo shoots and symbolic ceremonies in kimonos, with calligraphy, wish notes and ancient rituals are popular here," the specialist said.

While Dubai is interesting for newlyweds with non-standard accommodation formats, including underwater rooms with panoramic windows, where marine life becomes part of the romantic atmosphere.

The expert noted that when choosing a destination, couples primarily focus on secluded hotels, special rooms for newlyweds and private vacation formats. That is why Turkey, Egypt and China remain among the least popular honeymoon destinations: the massive tourist flow and the format of the resort holidays do not match the expectations of the newlyweds, who during this period strive for silence and privacy.

Analysts of the OneTwoTrip travel planning service named the most popular countries for seaside holidays in February to Izvestia on January 20. Thailand is the most in demand, where hotels have already been booked by 17.9% of tourists who have planned a beach holiday in February. A hotel room is chosen for 13.7 thousand rubles per day, and the average length of stay is 5.6 days. Vietnam came in second place with a share of 5.2%, where Russians will rest for about 6.4 days.
