In the Irkutsk region, in the Markovsky administrative district, about 400 residents were left without electricity due to a fire at a transformer substation caused by an overload of a power line in the cold. This was announced on January 20 by the mayor of Irkutsk municipal district Leonid Frolov.

"I am monitoring the situation in the Markovsky administrative district. <...> About 400 people remain without electricity at the moment. These are residents of the Pushkino Park district, the summer cottage village of Romashka and the cottage village of Mittens, according to the publication of the Telegram channel.

It is noted that 10 specialists of Southern Electric Networks, four pieces of equipment and an additional team for laying the cable are working on site. The emergency service predicts the restoration of power supply by noon on January 20.

Frolov clarified that the district administration has organized a temporary accommodation facility at the Markovskaya secondary school, which can accommodate up to 1.5 thousand people.

Earlier, on January 18, it was reported that heating was temporarily turned off in at least 14 apartment buildings in Chekhov near Moscow due to an accident on heating networks. The reason for the shutdown was a leak on the backbone networks.
