- Shatskaya spoke about the threat of digital reputation and additional personal income tax to individual entrepreneurs
Starting from January 1, 2026, individual entrepreneurs will face additional personal income tax and a deterioration in their digital reputation if they use one account for personal purchases and business transactions. This was announced on January 20 by Irina Shatskaya, Head of the Department of Economics at RTU MIREA, Doctor of Economics.
"If you use the same account both for payments with suppliers and for purchases in the supermarket, this creates a serious risk. The automatic systems of the Federal Tax Service will easily detect such mixed operations," Shatskaya explained to TASS.
She added that the tax service will form the digital reputation of each business based on the analysis of banking transactions, Rosstat data, information about real estate and counterparties.
Earlier, on December 17, 2025, it was reported that from January 1, 2026, changes in the tax legislation of Russia will come into force. The new rules relate to personal income tax, VAT, special tax regimes and deductions, including the introduction of benefits for families with children and an increase in the VAT rate from 20% to 22%.
