More than half a million people have been affected by flooding in Mozambique. Tom Fletcher, Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and UN Emergency Relief Coordinator, announced this on January 19.
"More than half a million people have been affected by severe flooding in Mozambique. The houses are destroyed. The roads are flooded. Medical facilities are damaged," he wrote on the social network X.
It is noted that at the moment, an increase in the volume of assistance to residents of the country has begun.
Earlier, on January 6, at least 14 people died in floods in Indonesia. According to the newspaper, as a result of the incident, 18 people were injured, and four more are missing. Authorities had to evacuate at least 444 residents to local schools and churches.
