Kyzymko warned about the risks of using folk remedies for dandruff
Dandruff cannot be effectively treated with folk remedies, such as shampooing with cognac. On January 20, she told the newspaper.Ru" dermatovenerologist, cosmetologist, trichologist of the clinic "Be Healthy" on Sretenka Maria Kyzymko.
According to her, such methods can temporarily reduce the oiliness of the skin, but in the long run they cause dryness and irritation.
"Some people believe that washing the scalp with cognac helps to get rid of dandruff. Alcohol helps to degrease the surface of the scalp, temporarily reducing the amount of sebum, which, of course, can help in the fight against dandruff. But in the long term, the use of cognac can lead to dryness and irritation of the skin, making the situation worse," explained Kyzymko.
The doctor emphasized that dandruff occurs due to skin cell renewal disorders, fungal activity, stress, or improper care, and recommended that if severe itching, inflammation, or intense hair loss occurs, consult a specialist.
Earlier, on August 20, 2025, it was reported that the use of baby shampoos for adults can lead to dandruff and deterioration of hair condition. Soft formulations of such products do not cope with oily scalp, do not remove makeup residues and do not contain regenerating components, which contributes to itching, greasiness and fragility of hair.
