Index announced Hungary's plans to maintain cooperation with Russia
The Hungarian government plans to continue pragmatic cooperation with Russia in the economic sphere, including energy, if it retains power following the results of the parliamentary elections scheduled for April 12. This was announced on January 19 by Balash Orban, advisor to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in an interview with the online publication Index.
"We have pragmatic energy and economic cooperation with Russia, we have established particularly successful technological and economic relations with China, and there is now an increasingly close military, political and economic cooperation with the United States in the international arena," Balash Orban is quoted as saying in the publication.
Answering a question about what Russia, China and the United States can expect if the ruling FIDESZ—Hungarian Civil Union party, led by Viktor Orban, wins the elections, he recalled that the prime minister has long been building mutually beneficial relations with these countries.
