A raisin was spotted in the Jilin Nature Reserve. The animal was met by inspectors of a specially protected natural area during winter registration, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Trans-Baikal Territory reports.

Epiphany frosts have now set in and the temperature in the region can reach up to -50 degrees at night, writes ChitaMedia news agency. Therefore, raisins, like other animals, are in a hurry to bask in the sun in the morning.

According to Alexander Buzinov, head of the directorate of protected areas, moose and roe deer have already shed their horns, while the male raisins will continue to wear them until March.

The raisin belongs to the East Asian real deer. The artiodactyl's menu includes 70 plant species, including poisonous ones. It feeds mainly at night, and mostly lies down during the day. The most important enemy is the wolf.

Earlier it was reported that a new version of the Red Book of Animals was released in Transbaikalia. The work on the publication was carried out for five years.
