By the end of 2025, 12.5 thousand new passenger electric vehicles were registered in Russia, which is 30% less than in 2024, when 17.8 thousand such vehicles were sold. The current volume was even lower than in 2023 (14.1 thousand units). Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on January 19.

The Zeekr brand, which is not officially represented in the Russian Federation, has become the market leader. Over the year, sales of the Chinese brand fell by 61%, to 3 thousand units. In the last months of the year, Zeekr lost the lead, but at the end of the year it retained the first position.

The second was the Russian brand Evolve (1.8 thousand units), whose sales increased by 45% year-on-year. The third was Kaliningrad-based Amberauto, which sold 1,126 electric cars of the only A5 model.

Avatr (978 units) and Moskvich (880 units) rounded out the top five. As the analyst noted, the latter shows good sales only due to the implementation of the "3e" model to legal entities in Moscow, while sales to individuals are minimal.

Next are BYD (843 units), Xiaomi (703 units) and Geely (463 units). Tesla was the leader of the electric car market in Russia a few years ago, but now it has become only the ninth (449 units; -34%). The Ora brand (374 units), part of the Great Wall Motor concern, rounded out the top ten. Almost all of his new cars registered in 2025 were from previous years of production.

Earlier, on January 3, it was reported that Tesla had lost its status as the world's largest seller of electric vehicles, giving way to the BYD concern. Over the year, Tesla's sales fell by almost 9%, the second consecutive annual decline.
