Celebrations in honor of the Epiphany of the Lord were held in the Church of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, attended by parishioners. The corresponding footage is published by Izvestia on January 19.

A solemn service was held in the church of the Ministry of Defense, located in the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region. The servicemen, along with the clergy, entered the temple with icons of Jesus Christ, portable lanterns and crosses. During the Divine Liturgy, parishioners prayed in front of the icon of the Savior Not Made with Hands, and then attended the Great Consecration of Water.

Izvestia correspondent Nikolai Goncharov took part in traditional bathing.

"Baptism is not a walrus, it is a small sacrifice to God. He (God — Ed.) is everything to you, and you've humbled yourself a little for him. <...> I won't go into cold water according to the verdict of the People's Court, but baptism is a small sacrifice to God," Goncharov said about the significance of the ceremony.

Alexey Makarenko, a local resident, has been participating in Epiphany bathing with his son for the second year in a row. He noted that it is important for all Russians to join the Orthodox culture.

"Our Savior was initially baptized in the Jordan River, so we must enrich our inner world and wash away some sins from ourselves," Makarenko said.

Traditional bathing, performed on the annual Orthodox feast of Epiphany, took place on January 19 in the Republic of Dagestan, where the entire Caspian Sea was consecrated specifically for this purpose. Vasily Kanygin, one of the participants of the bathing, who lives in Makhachkala, clarified that the weather in the area where the baptismal font was organized turned out to be successful and snowy.
