Four-time Stanley Cup winner with the Montreal Canadiens, Joseph Georges Philippe Goyette, better known as Phil Goyette, has died at the age of 92. This was announced on January 18 on the website of the National Hockey League (NHL) club.

The Canadiens are saddened to announce the passing of four—time Stanley Cup winner Phil Goyette.

Goyette, who played as a forward, scored 674 points (207 goals, 467 assists) in 941 regular season games for the Canadiens, New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues and Buffalo Sabres, as well as 46 points (17 goals, 29 assists) in 94 games. The Stanley Cup playoffs.

The hockey player spent his first seven seasons in the NHL with Montreal and helped the team win four Stanley Cups in a row from 1957 to 1960. He also received the Lady Bing Memorial Trophy, awarded to "a player who has shown an example of honest wrestling and gentlemanly behavior combined with high gaming skills," as part of the Blues in 1970.

He finished his playing career with the Rangers in the 1971-1972 season, after which he became the coach of the New York Islanders the following season. The Islanders have six wins, 40 losses and four draws.
