The militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), who returned to service from the unauthorized abandonment of the unit, are sent to the front lines. This was announced on January 18 by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky.

"First of all, those units that perform tasks in the hottest areas of the front are being completed. Where active hostilities are taking place, there is a need for replenishment of personnel. <...> Returning people can get into those units that are actively fighting," the Commander—in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in an interview with the Ukrainian edition. LB.ua .

Syrsky noted that the figures of the NWF are growing and changing depending on the intensity of the fighting, the situation at the front and the negotiation process. He explained that now, in the conditions of hostilities, it is difficult for Ukrainian militants to transfer from one brigade to another, even if it is nearby.

On January 10, Ukrainian prisoner of war Alexander Shakura said that he was fraudulently sent to the front line, hiding from him the real conditions of service. He clarified that he had repeatedly asked for terms of service and was interested in when he would be sent home. To the prisoner's numerous questions, the command replied that "no one will ever change him from here."
