- The Bundeswehr did not disclose the details of the mission of the German military in Greenland.
The German military command did not disclose the details of the German military mission in Greenland that ended on Sunday. This was announced on January 18 by a representative of the Bundeswehr operational command.
"Please understand that we cannot answer questions regarding the content of the intelligence mission for reasons of military security," TASS quoted him as saying.
The ministry briefly added that the German military completed the mission in Greenland according to the plan, having received important information. Based on them, together with NATO partners, the military will coordinate measures to strengthen security in the North Atlantic and the Arctic.
On January 12, German Foreign Minister Johann Vadefuhl expressed doubt about the readiness of the United States for active military action against Greenland. Vadefoul clarified that the development of a plan to ensure security in the Arctic in the interests of NATO has just begun. The head of the department expressed confidence that results would be achieved during the upcoming negotiations between the United States and Denmark.
European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius said at the same time that the US military operation to capture Greenland, if it begins, would mean the end for the North Atlantic Alliance.
