Americans have become more likely to abandon digital technologies in favor of analog hobbies due to fatigue from artificial intelligence and social networks. This was reported on January 18 by CNN.

"Michael's, a company that sells creative products, has felt this for itself: according to the company, which operates more than 1,300 stores in North America, the number of requests on the topic of "analog hobbies" on its website has increased by 136% over the past six months," the article says.

According to the newspaper, this growth reflects a general cultural shift. Michael's chief merchandising Officer, Stacy Shively, explained that people find traditional needlework a break from digital overload.

The Guardian newspaper reported on December 28, 2025, that more than 20% of the videos that YouTube offers to new users belong to the category of so-called AI—slop, low-quality content created using artificial intelligence (AI). According to the publication, such AI content is actively distributed on social networks and brings the authors about $117 million a year.
