Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka criticized President Petr Pavel for his statement about the possible transfer of subsonic combat aircraft to Ukraine.

"Mr. President probably reduced the likelihood of such a possibility rather than increased it. He behaved like an elephant in a china shop," the Ceske noviny newspaper quoted the Foreign Minister as saying.

According to the Foreign Minister, President Pavel had not previously consulted with the Government of the Republic on this issue. Petr Matsinka also said that the issue of the transfer of aircraft will be discussed at a meeting of the leaders of the three parties of the coalition on Monday.

Pavel said on January 16 that the Czech Republic was ready to supply Ukraine with combat aircraft to combat drones. He added that Prague can also supply early warning systems such as passive radars.

Czech Parliament Speaker Tomio Okamura said on January 1 that money from the budget intended for the needs of socially vulnerable groups of the population should not be spent on the purchase of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). According to him, helping and distributing money to foreigners beyond the norm is absurd.
