A captured militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Pavel Geiko said on January 18 that he had lasted only 20 minutes on the battlefield.

"After 20 minutes, we were smashed by drones. And after another 20 minutes, they came, stormed and captured us. We gave up, of course, because we want to live," the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper quoted him as saying.

Geiko, who was captured in the village of Shevchenko in the Donetsk People's Republic, added that his training was insufficient, and he encountered weapons for the first time on the front line.

He also accused the Ukrainian command of "throwing soldiers for meat," reporting on the difficult situation at the front, the massive use of drones and heavy losses.

On January 10, Alexander Shakura, a prisoner of war of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that he was fraudulently sent to the front line, hiding the real conditions of service. Shakura shared that he had repeatedly asked about his service life and wondered when he would be sent home. To the prisoner's numerous questions, the command replied that "no one will ever change him from here."
