RIA Novosti: starting from March 1, the rules of air travel in Russia will change
Starting from March 1, Russian airlines undertake to inform passengers in advance about the conditions of the flight, the procedure for changing and refunding tickets, as well as the refund of funds, including due to special circumstances and illnesses. This was announced on January 18 by State Duma Deputy Alexander Yakubovsky.
"On March 1, amendments to the rules of air transportation approved by the order of the Ministry of Transport of Russia No. 341 will come into force. For the first time, the rules specify in detail the carrier's obligation to inform passengers in advance about flight conditions," Yakubovsky said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to the MP, a separate block of changes will be aimed at regulating flights of families with children. The airline will be obliged to provide children under 12 years of age and their parents with adjacent seats on board without charging an additional fee, and also clearly describe the procedure for providing such seats.
The purpose of the changes, according to the parliamentarian, is to increase transparency and predictability of passenger rights, as well as to clearly define the responsibilities of airlines. This will allow for mutual protection of the parties and minimize conflicts by creating a single legal control for all, Yakubovsky concluded.
On January 13, the Russian Government's website published an instruction from Deputy Chairman Vitaly Saveliev to prepare additional measures to ensure stable passenger service during peak periods. Special attention was paid to the analysis of the work of the capital's airports during the abnormal snowfall on January 9-10 and the situation with disruptions in the aircraft maintenance schedule at Sheremetyevo Airport, which led to delays in unloading and baggage collection.
