A boy born in 2021 drowned in a sauna located in the building of the Belogorsk sports and recreation complex in the Amur region, where he arrived with members of his family. This was announced on Saturday, January 17, by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.
"The Belogorsk City Prosecutor's Office is conducting an inspection in connection with the accident, <... On the evening of January 17, 2026, a boy born in 2021 was in a sauna with his family. Some time later, the child was found in the water without signs of life," the statement said, which was published on the Telegram channel of the department.
It is noted that the city prosecutor Andrei Timoshenko visited the scene of the tragedy, who coordinated the actions of law enforcement officials. The text emphasized that the prosecutor's office will establish the circumstances of the incident by establishing an audit of the implementation of legislation on minors, including in terms of ensuring the safe stay of visitors at the recreation facility.
"If there are grounds, the issue of taking prosecutorial response measures will be resolved," the publication concluded.
On January 4, representatives of the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation for the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug reported the death of a young boy when a snowmobile on which he was with a 39-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man collapsed under the ice. The department clarified that the child died of hypothermia, the woman was saved, and a criminal case was opened against the man under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence").
