Russians were reminded of traditions and prohibitions on Epiphany Eve

On Epiphany Eve, which precedes the feast of the Epiphany, believers are advised to observe certain traditions and restrictions based on church institutions and national experience.

On this day, it is recommended to focus on spiritual life — to take time to pray and read the Holy Scriptures, attend church services and, if possible, observe fasting. It is also customary to collect epiphany water, forgive offenses, put up with loved ones and spend the evening in a calm, peaceful atmosphere.

At the same time, on Epiphany Eve, it is not recommended to arrange noisy festivities, indulge in drunkenness and entertainment. Believers are advised to avoid quarrels, conflicts, foul language and participation in occult practices, which the Church considers a grave sin. In addition, it is not recommended to engage in heavy physical labor unless absolutely necessary, and holy water should be treated with reverence and not poured out in inappropriate places.

The moment is considered one of the oldest one-day fasts of the Orthodox Church.

Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram messenger, published a Christmas message on January 7, in which he urged users to relax more and communicate less. He also wrote that all of the above interferes with peace of mind, health, sleep and creativity.
