On January 17, Tomio Okamura, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, a Japanese-born entrepreneur and leader of the Freedom and Direct Democracy Party, removed the flag of the European Union (EU) from his office.

He posted on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter) a video showing the relevant process.

"So I'm all here (in the office. — Ed.) redid it in his own way," says Okamura's publication.

In one of the frames, the speaker stands against the background of two flags: the Czech national and the EU, and in the other, the flag of the alliance has been replaced by another flag of the Czech Republic.

On November 6, 2025, Okamura announced that he had succeeded in removing the Ukrainian flag from the Czech Parliament building, which had been hanging there for three years. Then he also posted a video clip in which he said to the solemn melody "The Czech Republic comes first!".
