Ex-Lokomotiv football player Artur Shamrin found dead in Lipetsk
Former Lokomotiv Moscow football player Artur Shamrin has died at the age of 56. This was announced on January 17 by the press service of Lipetsk FC Metallurg .
"The body of one of the main talents of Lipetsk football, Artur Shamrin, was discovered today in the Yeletsky microdistrict. The death of his father was confirmed to us by his son Sergey," the FC Telegram channel reported.
According to Metallurg, Shamrin went out for a walk on Friday evening and did not return. Throughout the night, volunteers from the LizaAlert search and rescue team searched for him. In the last years of his life, the football player was ill and had a neurological disability.
During his career, Shamrin scored 37 goals, becoming the 18th scorer in the history of Lokomotiv, for which he played in two periods — from 1984 to 1986 and from 1992 to 1994. He started his career in the reserve team of Spartak Moscow. The striker ended his career at the age of 28.
