As a result of the shelling of a substation in the Zaporizhia region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), 450 settlements in the Kherson region in all 14 districts were left without electricity. This was announced on January 17 by the governor of the region, Vladimir Saldo.

"As a result of the shelling of a substation in the Zaporizhia region, the power supply was cut off. 14 municipalities of the Kherson region and 450 settlements remain without electricity," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Saldo added that power engineers and emergency services are already working at the scene and are trying to restore electricity.

The day before, Baldo reported that a civilian was killed in an attack by an APU UAV in the Kherson region. In addition, a fire broke out at a transformer substation in Kakhovka as a result of a drone strike, but the fire was quickly extinguished.
