The investigative authorities detained the head of the Interior Ministry center in Syktyvkar, where a training and imitation grenade exploded the day before. This was announced on Sunday, January 17, by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Komi Republic.
"A criminal case has been opened against the head of the Center on the grounds of a crime under paragraphs "c" and "d" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Abuse of official authority resulting in serious consequences committed by a group of persons by prior agreement")," the department said.
He has been detained, and the issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved against him.
A fire broke out at the Interior Ministry's training center in Syktyvkar on January 15. It was noted at the time that one of the reasons for the incident, upon which a criminal case was opened in accordance with Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Negligence that negligently caused serious harm to health or death of a person"), could be the explosion of a stun grenade.
The number of injured reached 20 people, nine of whom were in serious or extremely serious condition.
