Two men died in a fire at an industrial base in Surgut, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. This was announced on Saturday, January 17, by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

"According to preliminary data, on January 17, a fire broke out in the checkpoint <...> As a result of the incident, two people died," the agency said in a Telegram channel message.

Upon the tragedy, the prosecutor's office launched an investigation to determine the causes of the incident. The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region also launched a pre-investigation check under the article on causing death by negligence. The victims were 38 and 59 years old.
