On January 17, American entrepreneur Elon Musk announced the launch of the Colossus 2 supercomputer, which will train the Grok neural network chatbot.

"The Colossus 2 supercomputer for Grok is now working," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Musk explained that this supercomputer is the world's first educational cluster with a capacity exceeding 1 GW. He added that in April 2026, the capacity of Colossus 2 will be increased to 1.5 GW.

Science Daily magazine reported on December 1 last year that a group of scientists had developed new methods to confirm the accuracy of the results of a specific type of quantum device known as a Gaussian boson sampler (GBS). GBS machines use photons, elementary particles of light, to generate probabilistic calculations that would require thousands of years of work for even the fastest classical supercomputer.
