An auto expert spoke about possible failures of foreign cars in Russia
Premium brand cars are being massively discontinued in Russia due to failures in electronic systems caused by interference from electronic warfare. On January 17, automotive expert Evgeny Ladushkin told Izvestia about this.
Earlier, complaints from owners of 2013-2019 Porshe and BMW cars appeared online. According to them, the cars suddenly stall on the move, after which they do not start, requiring evacuation and flashing of electronic control units.
"What we are seeing now is a natural consequence of the fact that machines that are massively used in our country are technically complex, and at the same time they lack warranty support for updating the firmware of electronic components," the expert explained.
According to him, the problem is solved by installing artisanal firmware, but it is unsafe: poor-quality software can lead to engine failure or failure of electronic components, the delivery time of which often reaches six months or more. While official firmware from manufacturers is currently unavailable in Russia due to lack of distribution.
On January 14, car dealers warned that in the first quarter of 2026, new passenger cars in Russia will continue to rise in price, adding an average of 5-10%. According to their estimates, prices for new passenger cars in the Russian Federation have increased by an average of 1.5–3% since January 2026.
