- Soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces told the details of the liberation of Zhovtnevy in the Zaporozhye region
Servicemen of the 394th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 127th Motorized Rifle Division of the Vostok group of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation spoke about the course of military operations they carried out during the liberation of the village of Zhovtnevoe in the Zaporizhia region. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation publishes relevant footage on January 17.
So, an attack aircraft with the call sign Grizzly, recalling the preparations for the operation, described the route chosen by the Russian units to enter the settlement, along which they traveled both in pickups and trucks.
"We mainly used the terrain, and the frosts. They threw straw, trees, everything across the river, and when it was covered with ice, it became quite hard, and we could walk, drive," said Grizzly.
The soldier clarified that he and his colleagues worked in several areas at once in small groups of two or three people each. The militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) mostly, as the stormtrooper recalls, hid in a built-up area, which had to be cleared.
Another soldier, an attack aircraft with the call sign Tikhy, added that during the entire operation to clear Zhovtnevy, Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and FPV drones were constantly in the sky above him. The drones, he said, used airdrops. In addition, the soldier stressed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were trying to bring reserves on combat vehicles.
"But the calculations (of the Russian Armed Forces. — Ed.) they are working, they are also extinguishing from the air (the militants' equipment. — Ed.), we also clean it up later," said Tikhy.
The ministry said that as a result of the successful offensive of the Vostok group unit, the enemy's defense area with an area of over 6 square kilometers was liberated. In addition, a large number of enemy personnel and equipment were destroyed during the fighting, including more than 15 heavy hexacopters of the Baba Yaga type.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of Zhovtnevoye a day earlier, which allowed Russian units to gain a foothold on the western bank of the Gaichur River and create conditions for advancement.
