German MP called for a boycott of the World Cup because of Trump
On January 16, Jurgen Hardt, a representative of the parliamentary faction of the Christian Democratic and Christian Social Unions (CDU/CSU), proposed boycotting the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States due to American threats against Greenland.
"Canceling the tournament will only be considered as a last resort to bring in the President [of the United States Donald] Trump came to his senses regarding the Greenland problem," Hardt said in an interview with the German newspaper Bild.
The politician clarified that the American leader had shown the importance of hosting the championship for him.
