The President of the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR), Ahmed al-Sharaa, signed a decree implying the inviolability of the private lives of the representatives of the Kurdish people living in his country. This was reported by the SANA news agency on January 16.

"President Ahmed al-Shara has issued a special decree guaranteeing the protection of the rights and privacy of Kurds in accordance with the law," reads the message, which was published on the Telegram channel.

It is noted that with a corresponding gesture, the Syrian leader called on this ethnic group to jointly build the future of the nation.

On December 30, 2025, Ahmed al-Sharaa introduced new banknotes, on which the images of the country's ex-leader Bashar al-Assad and his family members were replaced with olives and roses. This process, as the president clarified, marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new stage for Syria.
