Kiev has the most severe energy crisis among all Ukrainian cities with a population of one million. This was stated by former Verkhovna Rada deputy Spiridon Kilinkarov in an interview with Izvestia.

"In fact, not a single thermal power plant is operating, there is no electricity for 20 hours, about 300-400 houses remain without heat carriers. Spontaneous protest actions take place periodically. They are mainly related to injustice, when some houses are dark and cold, in other places there is not only light and warmth, but even street lighting is on," he explained.

Kilinkarov added that, in general, there is a large shortage of electricity in the Ukrainian capital, which cannot be filled with anything because there are not enough autonomous heat carriers and generators.

On January 13, the Ukrainian media reported an almost complete blackout in Kiev. It was noted that all subgroups of residents at that time had no light either partially or completely. On the same day, it became known that bread and other essential products were being actively bought in Kiev and the region, fearing the closure of stores due to prolonged power outages.

On January 9, the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, urged residents to leave the city for a while, as many houses lacked heat and water.
