An emergency regime in the energy sector has begun to operate in Ukraine
A state of emergency (emergency) in the energy sector has begun to operate in Ukraine. This was announced on January 16 by the country's Energy Minister Denis Shmygal.
"This is necessary, first of all, for maximum coordination of the actions of all services in the capital, the region and the communities," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to Shmygal, for the duration of the regime, citizens are allowed to travel to heating points during the curfew. In addition, the procedure for connecting backup power sources will be simplified, and backup capacities will be redistributed between regions, taking into account the needs of critical infrastructure facilities.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced on January 14 that a state of emergency in the energy sector would be introduced in the country. At the same time, he stressed that "Shmygal would become the head of work to support people and communities in such conditions, as well as to address practical issues."
On the same day, Shmygal reported that there were no power plants left in Ukraine that were not affected by the strikes. According to him, the biggest problems in the energy sector are observed in Kiev and the Odessa region.
