Summary of the special operation in Ukraine for the week

A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. Military industry enterprises, energy facilities, transport and port infrastructure used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), fuel depots, military airfields, production workshops, storage and launch sites for long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries were affected.

"As a result of decisive actions, units of the Southern Group of Forces liberated the Zakotonoye settlement of the Donetsk People's Republic. Formations of four mechanized, motorized infantry, assault, mountain assault, and airmobile brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a marine brigade, two air defense brigades, and two National Guard brigades were defeated. In total, the enemy lost more than 1,140 servicemen, two tanks, and 42 armored combat vehicles in the area of responsibility of the Southern Group of Forces," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

As a result of the coordinated actions of the units of the North group of forces in the Sumy region, the village of Komarovka in the Sumy region was taken under control. The manpower and equipment of two mechanized, amphibious assault brigades, the assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the air defense brigade were defeated. Formations of three mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the air defense brigade and the border guard detachment of the Border Service of Ukraine were defeated in the Kharkov direction. In total, the enemy lost more than 1,345 military personnel, four armored combat vehicles, 92 vehicles and ten field artillery pieces in the area of responsibility of the North group of forces.

The Zapad group of forces has taken more advantageous positions and frontiers. The manpower and equipment of three mechanized, airmobile, amphibious assault, assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two air defense brigades and two National Guard brigades were defeated. The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces in this area amounted to over 1,340 military personnel, a tank, 16 armored combat vehicles, 132 vehicles and six field artillery guns.

The units of the Vostok group of forces continue to advance into the depth of the enemy's defenses and liberated the village of Zhovtnevoye in the Zaporizhia region. The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of responsibility of the Vostok group of forces amounted to more than 1,665 military personnel, 30 armored combat vehicles, 74 vehicles, eight field artillery guns, four ammunition depots and materiel.

As a result of decisive actions, units of the Dnepr group of forces liberated the settlements of Belogorye and Novoboikovskoye in the Zaporizhia region. In just a week, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 370 military personnel, a tank, five armored combat vehicles, 74 vehicles, seven field artillery guns, eight electronic and counter-battery warfare stations, as well as 12 ammunition and materiel depots in this area.

Five multiple launch rocket systems combat vehicles, including a US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket launcher and a Czech-made Vampire multiple launch rocket vehicle, were destroyed by unmanned aerial vehicles, rocket troops and artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Air defense systems shot down 31 guided aerial bombs, 21 HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems manufactured in the United States, three guided long-range Neptune missiles and 1,138 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 670 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 109,344 unmanned aerial vehicles, 645 anti-aircraft missile systems, 27,154 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,642 multiple rocket launchers, 32,613 field artillery and mortars, and 51,993 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed.
