Marines from the UK are conducting extreme exercises at the Viking Camp base in northern Norway. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on January 16.
"In the deep snows of the Arctic mountains, British Marines are preparing for war with Russia," the author of the article writes.
According to the newspaper, in the spring of this year, it is planned to deploy about 1.5 thousand military personnel at the base. By 2027, the number of the contingent is expected to increase to 2 thousand people.
Brigadier General Jamie Norman, commenting on the ongoing exercises, said that the NATO countries, in his opinion, are no longer in peacetime, adds "Газета.Ru ".
On November 24 last year, the press service of the Finnish Navy announced the launch of the major international exercise Freezing Winds 25 in the Baltic Sea with the participation of 11 NATO countries. It was clarified that in addition to Finland, military contingents from Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, France, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland and the United States took part in the exercises.
