Belarus has launched a sudden large-scale inspection of the army on behalf of President Alexander Lukashenko. This was announced on January 16 by the State Secretary of the Security Council (SB) of the country, Alexander Volfovich.

"On behalf of the president, a large-scale inspection of the Armed Forces has begun. It will be complex and consist of several stages. The verification measures are sudden," the BelTA news agency quoted him as saying.

He added that the inspection is carried out taking into account the experience of the special military operation (SVO) and its introduction into the army. The issues of ensuring the security of military facilities and effective protection measures against modern threats, including attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), will also be studied.

Earlier, on January 12, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported that 16 sorties of NATO member countries carrying out reconnaissance had been recorded in the republic. According to the agency, during 2025, the intensity of reconnaissance of NATO member countries on some days reached 10-12 sorties.

On December 20, Volfovich noted that the events taking place in the West have a significant impact on the security and functioning of all states, including Belarus. He stressed that the situation around the country continues to be extremely tense.
